Or in this case, the television… Right now, you can head to Amazon Prime and do a Road House double feature. The original, starring Patrick Swayze, and the remake, starring Jake Gyllenhaal are both streaming there. The original is a certified classic. It’s definitely cheesy at times, but it’s fun to see Swayze, who was a huge star at the time, busting heads and just looking entirely cool and charming for 114 minutes. In the box office, we saw Godzilla and King Kong return to the big screen this past weekend. The movie did $80 million domestically and has totaled over $202 million worldwide to date. For reference, Dune: Part Two did $82 million domestically in its opening and the previous installment, Godzilla vs. Kong, did $31 million in its domestic opening. It’s interesting to see how these change over time. Will there be bigger openings and lower total box offices as times change and movies move to streaming faster? We’ll keep you posted.

On the release radar this weekend is Monkey Man from first time director Dev Patel. Dumb name, but looks like a fun genre film that stars Patel and also comes with Sharlto Copley - a hilarious and underutilized actor - highly recommend you watch him in Free Fire if you haven’t.
