💵 Mario Bros. Smash A Billion
& Return of the Jedi... Returns to theaters
It was pretty apparent after its first weekend that this moment would arrive at some point, but The Super Mario Bros. Movie has finally crossed $1 billion worldwide. Assisting in this milestone was the fact that the movie opened in Japan this past weekend. Regardless of that, this moment was coming and we suspect that the this thing will keep chugging along as it is only 26 days into its release. That being said, if you want to see it and haven’t yet, you’d better get out there soon; unfortunately we are not in the days of old when a blockbuster would stay in theaters for the whole summer.
Also in theaters, Evil Dead Rise had a pretty good second weekend with $12.1 million domestically. The movie has racked up $88 million worldwide on a budget of $19 million, meaning this thing is well in the green and Warner Bros. and the producers are likely smiling wide.
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi saw a re-release this weekend, which fans didn’t miss the chance to get out and see. The release knocked John Wick: Chapter 4 down a spot in the domestic weekend totals, but the Keanu Reeves action shooter is nearing the end of its theatrical run and doing just fine with more than $402 million worldwide.
